3 Tips For Staying Motivated Over The Festive Season

in General December 4, 2015

Christmas and New Year is for the majority of people a time to relax, socialise and enjoy. However, it’s all too easy to get carried away and overindulge in turkey, Christmas TV and social media!

Normally, students are told to spend this time wisely and continue studying. Rarely, does this happen and then it's panic stations once new year goes by and you realise how little you've done.

Some of you may even be sitting your IGCSEs in January, so this festive period is vital time you don't want to let slip away!

That's not to say you shouldn't enjoy yourself over this festive season, you just need to remember to stay focused. If you’ve put in a lot of hard work over the past few months why let that all that effort go to waste?

The below tips should help you stay motivated and focused over the next month or so!

-Avoid pointless TV: One minute you’re sitting down to enjoy The Snowman on Channel 4 next thing you know you’ve ended up wasting half the day watching Elf and Jingle All The Way. While these are fantastic films, you could've spent that time more wisely by fitting in a few lessons on your phone or tablet!

-Don’t stress!: If you're taking your exams in January you may feel a little stressed out. This is normal so don't panic. Instead of panicking work out a study plan in the run up to your exam, utilise your tutor support and your course forums. There will be other people in the same boat as you so it's reassuring to speak to other students going through what you are!

-Get rid of those distractions: New phones, new games, new laptop, the list goes on! Plenty of new distractions to take your attention away from studying. Instead of rushing in and spending all your time looking at cat videos on your new laptop, reward yourself after a good session of studying and you’ll appreciate it that bit more!
